Care is half of it.
Paying attention is the other half.
Care Awareness South Coast is NDIS and aged care support for people who need someone who reads the situation and then does something about it. We’re a registered provider covering the whole Shoalhaven, and down into Eurobodalla as far as Batemans Bay.

Why this exists
The little things are the whole thing.
People before paperwork, relationships before routines.Getting to the shops without it being a production. Having the right chair before the discharge, not three weeks after. Somebody remembering that Thursday is the hard day.
None of that shows up on a service agreement, and all of it is what people actually feel. Shanny built Care Awareness South Coast to do the small things properly and let the rest follow.
“It’s the little things in life that we take for granted that put a huge smile on someone’s face. To be there when that happens is a reward in itself.”
The name is the method
What awareness actually looks like.
Before Care Awareness
Shanny ran the high care ward of a 142 bed facility. She knew every resident by name. Their medications. What they had for breakfast. How they liked their socks put on. The temperature of the water.
“I knew everything about them.”
That’s the standard she brought with her, and it’s the difference between support that fills a slot and support that changes what happens next.
- Noticing the sugar levels are climbing on a Tuesday, so Thursday isn't another ambulance.
- Finding out the equipment funding was approved a fortnight ago and nobody had told the family.
- One phone call, and two hours later there's a nurse booked, after weeks of an ad sitting on a portal.
Where we’re different
Three things we’re built for.
The referrals that keep bouncing
Most of the people we support had been through every other provider in town first. Behaviours of concern, substance use, a history nobody had ever written down. If a referral has been handed back twice, that's the one to send here.
The chasing
Housing applications, replacement ID, equipment funding, the OT who was meant to come six weeks ago. None of it is billable and all of it decides how somebody actually lives. We chase it until it's done, and we tell you where it got to.
One person across the whole household
An NDIS plan on one side, an aged care package on the other, sometimes DVA as well. Same worker, same week, one set of conversations with the family. Almost nobody down here covers both.
Day to day that’s community access, personal care, daily living, capacity building, transport, wound care, aged care and DVA. The list is the same as everyone’s. What’s different is who we’ll take and what we’ll chase.

Where we work
The whole Shoalhaven, and on down to Batemans Bay.
Not just Ulladulla. Based at Narrawallee, we cover the Shoalhaven end to end, from Nowra and Jervis Bay in the north through Milton and Ulladulla, and we keep going south into Eurobodalla as far as Batemans Bay. Inland when that’s where somebody is. If you’re not sure whether you’re in range, ring and ask.

For coordinators
You’ll get a straight answer, and then you’ll get updates.
You’re talking to the people who do the shifts. We’ll tell you on the call whether we can take it, and if the answer is yes you won’t be chasing us for a report three weeks later.
An ad for a nurse had been sitting on a portal for weeks. One phone call, and somebody was booked within two hours. That’s the job, and we’d rather do it than wait for someone else to.
Support workers on the South Coast: we’re taking names now so we can call you when the hours land.
Common questions
The things people ring and ask.
What areas do you cover on the South Coast?+
The whole Shoalhaven, and south into Eurobodalla as far as Batemans Bay. Based at Narrawallee, covering Ulladulla, Milton, Mollymook, Burrill Lake, Sussex Inlet, Nowra and Jervis Bay. Inland by arrangement.
Are you an NDIS registered provider?+
Yes. Care Awareness South Coast is an NDIS registered provider, ABN 57 744 537 889. We also support aged care Home Care Package clients, DVA clients, and self-managed and private clients.
Can you support someone other providers have stopped working with?+
That is most of our current work. If a referral has been knocked back elsewhere because of behaviours of concern, substance use or a complicated history, send it through with those details included.
Can one provider cover both an NDIS plan and an aged care package in the same house?+
Yes. Plenty of households have an NDIS participant and an aged care package under one roof. Having the same person across both means nobody has to explain the household twice.
How quickly will I hear back about a referral?+
Within 24 hours on business days. If we are mid-shift it goes to the answering machine and we call back between clients.
Do you offer supported independent living or group homes?+
Not today. Group homes on the South Coast are where we are heading, and we say so plainly rather than taking a booking we cannot fill. If you need a vacancy now we will tell you straight away.
